We’ve started to get noise from the rigging that has grown larger over time. Even though we've had the rig professionally tuned/inspected twice since commissioning, our assumption was that the rig has settled after 3 years and 22,000 Nautical Miles, and needs tensioning.

Meeting up with Toodle-oo (Outbound Hull #27) in Madeira, we got the benefit of a side-by-side comparison of the two Outbound. We came up with a homemade “force-comparison method”, using a fish-scale, a low-friction ring and a piece of non-stretch line. The method is described in the document below, and illustrated in the video.

The short story is that we successfully tensioned the Horizon standing rigging, mimicking Toodle-oo. The full method and details are described in the document below, and illustrated in the video.
